"Firefly Viewing" in Atami plum garden

Overview

Enjoying the Fantastical Dance of Fireflies in the Plum Garden at Night

From late May to early June, Genji fireflies flutter around the clear stream of Hatsukawa within the plum garden, creating a fantastical scene.

The light of fireflies, known as "cold light," is emitted as a courtship signal and is sensitive to other lights.

During the event period, it is recommended to avoid strong lights and observe quietly.

Additionally, the Sawada Seiko Memorial Museum, adjacent to Atami Plum Garden, will extend its opening hours during the evening firefly viewing period, offering cultural enjoyment.

This event, where visitors can enjoy the dance of fireflies in nature, provides a special moment for those who attend.
