Izu Central
Part 1: The beginning of the pilgrimageNew!!

Let's start with Izu City, the center of the Izu Peninsula!

Izu is blessed with a wealth of natural beauty thanks to the Amagi mountain range, which is a series of mountains. With a high amount of rainfall, the mountains breathe, and spring water gushing out in abundance, the waterfalls in the valleys and the murmuring of the rivers provide healing and inspiration to many people.

Temple No. 3, Saisho-in, is known as a large temple with as many as 1,600 branch temples at its peak. Its spacious grounds and quiet appearance give it a sense of dignity.

As souvenirs from Izu City, be sure to try the local specialty wasabi, which can only be grown with clean water, and Japan's best shiitake mushrooms, which have won the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award many times!
